Memorial Trophy
The final of the 1914-2014 Memorial Trophy (Mixed Greensomes) was played on Saturday, 23 April in typical British weather with sun, wind a little rain and hail.
Jerry and Mark got their noses in front early on and despite some good play from Lesley and Ian. The holes ran out on the 16th with Jerry and Mark winning 4 and 2.
Naturally, as the photo on the putting green after the match shows, the sun came out!
Ladies v Seniors
The Ladies played the Seniors on Tuesday in their annual battle for the much coveted trophy. A good day was had by all and the Seniors triumphed despite the Ladies' determined attempts to get their hands on the cup.
Final score three-and-a-half to the Seniors, one-and-a-half to the Ladies.

Hopefully you're all starting to enjoy a bit more golf now that we're into spring. In an effort to help you shoot lower scores, we'd like to share a few wedge play secrets.
One of the biggest causes of loose ball striking is poor ball positioning. So…
1. Check your ball is positioned correctly under your sternum (pictured below).
2. Now, you need to stay balanced and avoid swaying with your backswing. Leaning back to help the ball up moves the bottom of your swing arc away from the ball.
3. Once you're set-up correctly, it's about trusting the loft of your wedge to do its job. A good way to guarantee this is to take a divot after the ball, which should also help create spin for added control.
