Our New Bletchingley ClubLink App Is Ready...

I have some exciting news in relation to further improvements to your golf experience at Bletchingley golf club. 

I am pleased to announce that we will be launching a new custom built app that will revolutionise the way in which we, the club, engage with members and visitors. Using the latest technology, the app serves as a mobile tool enhance the experience for all members and visitors. 

The main features of the app are:

- 3D Course guide with Flybys and GPS measuring
- Live scoring
- In app diary
- Course alerts
- Rewards
- Tee time booking


Sponsor Opportunities 

As a loyal member to the club, I wanted to outline that there are opportunities to become a business brand partner. ClubLink are looking for a select number of businesses to benefit from this new technology, by targeting key demographics that use the services and facilities provided by Bletchingley golf club. There are a number of different packages available, and the team at ClubLink will be available throughout and can assist in artwork design and marketing strategy. 

As part of the relationship, all members at Bletchingley golf club will have first refusal on whether they are interested in sponsoring the app. This is for a limited period, and any interest must be expressed by 30.05.2016, thereafter this date the app would be offered to businesses outside of the members. Ifield Reciprocal 

We are very pleased to announce the addition of Ifield Golf Club to our list of reciprocal arrangements. This will only be available to 5 & 7 day members, and booking tee times will be through the Pro shop or myself.


 

May Stableford 

Congratulations to Matt Charman on winning the division 1 stableford last weekend with a very solid 37 points. Matt is on a hot streak at the moment after winning the winter singles just a couple of weeks ago. Ian McGowan finished 2nd with 35 points.

Dennis Greenaway won division 2 with 34 points from one of our new recruits from Redhill and Reigate Ashley Finch. 


Cross Country Social 

Friday 13th maybe unlucky for some, but not those who played in the Cross Country Golf last week. 24 players enjoyed hitting balls to places even the most wayward hitters wouldn't normally go. Particularly challenging was the 'over the trees' shots, and deciding when to take them on...... 

We also had 3 guests to join us for supper afterwards and 2 little girls who I think stole the show. Much merriment was had by all. 

The winning team was Toby Chandler, Michael Day, Alex Smith & Howard Samples - well done. 

It was Michael Day's birthday and before he left to celebrate he had to endure us all singing happy birthday to him - sorry! 


 

Gents vs Woodlands Manor Away match - Sunday, 12 June 

Any 7 day member who would like to play in the match away would they please contact Mark Fuller. There are currently 4 spaces available.


 

The greens over the weekend and on Monday have been sprayed for fusarium as Paul had noticed that the putting green and one other was showing signs of the viral disease. The greens since the weekend have been verti cut, and the greens that are behind have been double verti cut. 

The greens will receive another application of top dressing next week. 

The whole course has been sprayed with selective weed killer and a lot of the focus was around the greens and in the rough. 




Michael Day travelled down to Princes Golf Club for a 2-day order of merit tournament. Michael got off to the ideal start by holing his 2nd shot from around 180 yards on the 1st hole of the shore course. Michael then picked another birdie 3 holes later to move to three under. On the 7th hole, Mike had an opportunity from six feet to go to four under, but squandered his chance. Unfortunately, a few dropped shots on the way in left him with a one under 71 and seven shots off the pace. 

On day 2 the field was cut to 33 and ties which just about got him above the cut line. A snap hook off the first hole lead to a triple bogey 7 which was not the start he was looking for, but the rest of the round with a lack of feel on the greens saw Mike shoot a frustrating 78 to finish in 35th place and pick up a token cheque. 

Ben didn't play quite as well and unfortunately missed the cut, but he entered the event the following day for all those that failed to make day 2. Ben managed to finish 4th and also picked up a token cheque.
