We are now starting to see very positive signs from the new Quad drop chemical that has been linked to our irrigation system. Just to remind readers this is something that we are currently trialling to help maintain healthy look to our greens and tees. Following a number of days where temperatures have reached 30 degrees through July our greens have maintained their colour and this wouldn't have normally been the case in the past, as by now they would have been showing signs of stress.
The rough management programme that we brought into place this year which in the beginning was unpopular but as we promised we would were always going to review and adjust accordingly. Wiseville now believe that the correct balance is in place that suits all ages and abilities. By doing this, it has created time for work to be done on the important areas such as the greens. Paul this year has been able to verti-cut 5 times since April as opposed to 2 times last year. The greens were verti cut last Friday and the same maintenance was carried out on Monday. Top dressing was applied and brushed in, just in time for the rain on Monday night. Already 92 tonnes of topdressing have been applied to the greens this year to help produce a smooth surface. One hundred tonnes is the recommended amount over the whole year, depending on the size of your greens. We are currently estimating that we will use in the region of around 120 tonnes after completing the autumn maintenance. We recognise that the greens are lacking a little pace and this is something we are trying to resolve.
Wiseville have purchased new yardage discs which are made from stainless steel and have been painted this week. I am hoping they will be on the fairways by this weekend. Bunkers are also and ongoing issue with the inconsistency issues of each individual bunker but we have now purchased some sand and this will also be resolved over the coming weeks. Please do not hesitate to come and speak to me or email Richard Jenner, richardpjenner13@btinternet.com if you have any questions relating to the course.
Ladies Invitation Day
40 ladies attended the Invitation Day 28th July and we had guests from 16 different clubs. There was a Royal Stableford played with the winning team of myself, Marilyn Luson, Rosie Shelley & Maureen Clachan coming in with 121 points. (Cuddington & Betchworth Park)
2nd place; Sheila Griffiths & Jean Pickering (Brompton Heath) Ros Shepherd & Karen Hardy (Surrey National).
3rd place; Veronica Borer & Jane Ritchie (Tandridge) Evelyn Brodie & Doreen Robson (Walton Heath).
We had an excellent Royal themed buffet, the sun shone and it was a great day. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it such a special day and especially Adrian Bourne & Phil Rhodes who wore their crowns all day helped with the score cards and in the half way hut.
