Catering
Wisevillle and Co Ltd are very pleased to welcome Kevin Roffey who will be heading our new catering franchise. Kevin has a wealth of experience including chef roles in several top London restaurants. Kevin has also had golf club experience including franchises at North Downs and Park Wood. We would like to offer Kevin our full support at the club and I hope the membership will do likewise. Breakfast will be available on the day from 7am and I would like to encourage all members who are participating to come and meet Kevin.
After golf, we hope you will join us for a 2 course Sunday carvery. A lighter option will be available if you do not require a carvery. The cost will be £16.00 per head and this will be a great opportunity for you all to sample Kevin's cuisine. Members discounts do apply upon payment. To book your table please add your name to the list which will be placed on the main noticeboard over the weekend. A £10 per head deposit will be required upon booking which can be paid over the bar in a brown envelope with your name on.
Course Update
It is with regret that we have had an unforeseen accident on the 10th green. One of the mowers hydraulic pipe has burst and spilt oil on the back-left quarter of the green. Our greenkeeping staff were very proactive in removing the machine from the green instantly to prevent further damage. The grass will die but we will be gradening and overseeding as soon as ground temperatures increase in the spring.
The leaves are now rapidly descending which is the usual problem for our greenkeepers through October and November. In recent years, the trees around the course have matured and so more leaves are now falling, which is hard to stay on top of when clearing the course using small back pack blowers. Taking this into consideration, we have trialed and purchased a blower that is attached to the tractor. This machine can blow the leaves around 30 feet from their position. Wiseville believe this would be another very useful piece of equipment to own and can also be used to clear any unwanted debris from the greens whilst undergoing Spring or Autumn maintenance. This will also help to reduce the amount of time it takes to complete both tasks
Members Xmas Party
A few tickets still available for the Xmas Fun Night on 10th December. Anyone not there will be missing a great evening! We really do have some very entertaining surprises! Dear Member,
Staff Christmas Fund It is that time of year when we start collecting contributions from you towards the Staff Christmas Fund. The Pro Shop staff, Greenkeepers, Bar staff and Waitresses work extremely hard to ensure we all enjoy playing golf at Bletchingley and socialising in the clubhouse afterwards.
We ask that you put your contribution in a brown envelope (available from the Pro Shop) and put it in the Competition box in the foyer (under the computer monitor). If you wish your money to go to a specific member of staff or section i.e.: green staff, pro shop etc. please indicate this on the envelope. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to "Bletchingley Golf Club".
Thank you for your generosity. We would like to give these donations to the staff before Christmas and so please ensure you put your envelope in the box by Sunday 18th December. We wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
