Members Christmas Party - Saturday 10th December 

The Golf Club Christmas Fun & Games night was enjoyed last weekend by 52 people. Lots of laughs, Christmas spirit and revelry had by all. The caterers did everybody proud with a lovely carvery with salads. Huge thanks to Viv & Sue for all their hard work. The finale was a great spectacle put on by Ros, Neil and their helpers. All attendees went home in a very festive mood.

   

Kevin and his team are now into their 2nd week at the club and so far, all comments have been positive and full of praise for his efforts. It is so nice to see the members showing their support and may it long continue. In the last couple of days, we have appointed Tracy as our new functions coordinator. Tracy will be on hand to run events and liaise with Kevin to ensure that we fulfill our customers needs. Tracy's wealth of experience in the hospitality industry can only help to improve our service to both members and visitors.

Course Update 

The new tees have now been shaped and rotavated. The irrigation has also been installed with 1 sprinkler either side of each tee. The tees currently are reasonably level but will now be left to settle until the new year. Any movement will then be reviewed and levelled. Turfing will start shortly after and left to knit until April when we are hoping these tees will come back into play. 

The putting green irrigation work will start in the 1st week of January. The sprinkler heads will be moved closer to the putting green with new heads and valves installed. This work carried out on the green will help improve water coverage over the whole of the green and not let areas brown off through the summer months. At present the current irrigation set up on the putting green is wasteful with water showering the surrounding paths or is being blocked by the hedges and not reaching the green itself. 

From next year, we will not be able to spray for worms as we have done over the last few years. Unfortunately, the government have banned the chemical carbendazim as traces of it have been found in the water table throughout the UK. We are still waiting for a similar product to become available on the market.
