Course update We have pencilled in the week commencing 4th September, for the pond on the 12th to be cleared of pond weed. There is never a good time for this work to be carried out, but we thought whilst the greens are being hollow tined we would carry out all the maintenance work simultaneously. I am sure you would have noticed the pond weed that has built up over time. For the digger to access the pond we have removed the dams and you will notice that the pond will be temporarily drained. I am letting you know, so that you don’t think that this has been an act of vandalism. Please note the tee for most of the week will be moved forward and onto a winter tee. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience. The new greens liaison committee met last weekend and the meeting was extremely positive. One of the topics that came up during the meeting was the out of bounds on the 15th hole and it was agreed that this would be extended up to the corner of the 15th hole. I cannot give an exact time frame of when these posts will be installed but it will be actioned in the next couple of weeks, so please be aware. We now have a new chairman, Myles Carroll. Bob Besley, El Rhodes remain on the committee. In attendance was the Vice-Captain, Dave Allard and myself. It was agreed that any issues must be brought up with members of the committee or written in the suggestions book which is by the competition box in the foyer. We will then be more than happy to look at any suggestions. Please keep the requests realistic and constructive. Raking bunkers After hitting your ball out of a bunker, would you please rake the sand so that there is an even amount of sand in the area that you have walked or hit from. So many golfers tend to rake the sand in one direction, generally the way they are exiting the bunker. This will leave areas of the bunker lacking sand and other areas with too much sand which then leaves an imbalance in that bunker. |
