Festival Of Golf
The Festival of Golf was once again a huge success and in the end proved to be very exciting. David Hannah who joined this year from Lingfield Golf Club won the Club Championships after beating Tim Burke in a 3 hole playoff. David works extremely hard on his game as you will see him most nights on the putting green or on the range. Congratulations David and well deserved!
Phil Morgan won the Mattinson Salver with a fabulous total of 143 from Tim Burke once again on 147.
The Ellen Dawson Trophy for the 19 plus handicaps was won by Adrian Bourne with a total of 152 over the 2 rounds from Neil Tunbridge 8 shots back.
For all the members who were not able to play over the 2 days were entered into the Sunday Salver Stableford. Nigel Luson won on the back 9 from Mark Fuller with a very respectable 33 points.
Reminder
Can I please remind members that competition tee times are from 8.00am on a weekend. Members are not allowed to book before the competition just because they cannot get the preferred time. Anyone who does so will not be allowed to enter on the morning of the competition. The only time we allow members to tee off earlier that are entering the competition is when the start sheet is completely full.
PING G30 Release
PING has announced the launch of its new G30 irons, which are designed to offer improved distance, consistency and forgiveness.
The PING G30 irons are specifically made to provide consistent gaping through the set, which also extends into the G30 hybrids and G30 fairway woods. This is to ensure every club in the bag goes a different distance.
The PING G30 irons get shorter from 4-iron through to lob wedge, with progressive offset making long irons more forgiving and shorter clubs easier to control.
What's more, a longer blade length on the G30 irons - as compared to PING's G25 irons - expands the perimeter weighting, increasing the moment of inertia.
The G30 irons boast an undercut cavity, which helps to lower the centre of gravity, facilitating improved launched conditions and increased forgiveness.
The Custom Tuning Port - which also helps move the centre of gravity lower and further back - sits low down on the irons, which are, as a consequence, able to support a thinner face and generate faster ball speeds.
Both the CTP and the undercut cavity help to ensure the Ping G30 irons provide a solid feel at impact.
In addition, the G30 irons come with an enhanced sole design. Improved turf interaction comes courtesy of a softer lead-edge radius and refined additions to the G30 irons' bounce profiles, which ensure the clubs perform, regardless of angle of attack.
Finally, an elastomer cavity badge enhances sound and feel.
