Men’s Captain’s Away Day – I have two places left so contact me directly if you want to join in on July 6th. The winning team came from Cuckfield GC and shot a quite incredible 102 so many congratulations to them for a positively stellar performance.
Captains’ Day – Viv and I look forward to hosting you all on July 14th. As it is Bastille Day, we are going with a French theme. There are some terrific prizes for the golf and also one for the best French outfit. You can sign up for the event via the BRS as it is a qualifying Stableford competition so get online and come and join us for some baguettes and champers. Full details are on the board. Men’s Competitions & Matches Well done to Tim Burke for winning the June Medal in Division 1 with a nett 72 and to Dave Long who won Division 2 with a nett 70. Jeff Knott powered to victory in the midweek Stableford with an impressive 37. Well done to him. The Surrey 5’s A Team had a very impressive win over Rusper who have won the competition in seven out of the last 11 years. Very well done to Ian McGowan and his team and the best of luck in the next round. Festival of Golf
We have a really impressive number of players already signed up for the Festival of Golf which is our stand out event of the year. There are so many options to get involved in so please do take part, test your golf and have a load of fun. There will be a BBQ after the golf which should offer a very nice way to relax and chat with your fellow members. Despite Steve’s message, the cost of the BBQ is just £15 and not £1500. I don’t want anyone cashing in their ISA’s just to attend. Humour One of my favourite moments of the Charity Day was watching Matt Fuller shank a ball at right angles into the trees on the right of the first fairway, seeing his head drop as the ball rattled around making all sorts of musical timber notes before it reappeared and landed pretty much at his feet. I think that Steve Cookson should also got a major mention for losing the keys to his office on the morning of the Charity Day. Normally I would find this quite amusing but with all the goodie bags and supplies for the Charity Day safely locked away in there I struggled with the funny side to begin with. However, after 45 minutes of searching, the keys were found in the lock of the proshop door and I could certainly relax and laugh. |
