25th Anniversary Weekend
We are now just under three weeks away from the biggest weekend in Bletchingley Golf Club’s history, so Viv, Roger & I thought you might like some information on what’s going on. We have set this out in chronological order below.
Saturday 15th September daytime – The Borer Anniversary and the 25th Fun Competition will take place from 8am onwards. The Borer is an individual Stableford competition for 7-day members only and the 25th Fun Competition is for 5-day and flexible members. You can sign up for both competitions using the BRS online system and members playing in both competitions will play together in keeping with the theme of one club coming together for the weekend. If you see a slot on the booking system just put your name in it. Should you need any help with booking please contact Steve Cookson and his team at the Club or do it via the proshop. Roger and Veronica Borer will be manning the half-way hut to offer you drinks and snacks as you pass the half-way point in your round. There will also be a whole selection of prizes which will be presented at the do in the evening. The entry fee for both competitions is £5.
Saturday 15th September evening – the dinner and dance party will start at 6.45pm. The dress code is smart or black tie. For men you have the choice of black tie or a more casual approach of a jacket (and for the jokers amongst you that is not just a jacket!). From feedback to date, the mix should be about half and half. The suggested dress code for ladies is long dresses, cocktail dresses or trouser suits. At the end of the day though it is a celebration so feel free to dress to impress but please keep it smart.
The schedule for the evening is as follows:
6.45pm - Sponsored drinks reception so get there bang on time.
7.30pm - Dinner is served. 9.00pm - Auction and raffle draw. 9.15pm - Speeches and presentations. 10.00pm - Time to get up and strut your stuff or prop up the bar.
Sunday Hangover Scramble – the morning after the night before competition starts at 12pm. You can sign up for the Sunday competition on the noticeboard in the entrance area of the club. Sarah Hussey has produced a terrific sheet so all you have to do is add your name. If you don’t know many people at the club this is the ideal opportunity to play with new people in a Texas scramble where golfing prowess won’t be that high on the agenda (at least for my sake) I hope not there is no problem at all with just adding your name as a single player because others will then add theirs and the organisers will do the rest.
The entry fee is £3.
