Sunday Swindle and Birthday’s Bash - Saturday 1st December Last Saturday the Sunday Swindle had a tremendous day celebrating several of the Swindle members birthdays. Colin Crick’s 60th, Bob Besley’s 70th, John Godfrey’s 70th, Tim Burke’s 50th, Pat Wilkins's 50th, Andy Hemmett’s 55th and Nick Mabbutt’s 53rd. The swindle congregated for coffee and bacon rolls in the morning all dressed up in their festive outfits ready for the day ahead, even though the weather was not particularly nice. Congratulations to Lesley Crick, Bob Besley, Peter Milton and Paul Stephens on winning the team prize. Colin Crick, Kevin Lucas, Trevor Sullivan and Pat Wilkins finished a close second. Paul Stephens won the Butter Cup Society Trophy that will now be played annually which was kindly donated by Nick Mabbutt. In the evening, they all returned to the club where they all enjoyed a delicious three course sit down meal. Following the meal, birthday cakes with singing candles were then served. The candles became a slight problem as they would not stop singing all night and by all accounts, Bob Besley took some home still singing. I think there were a few sore heads in the morning as we only had 25 entrants into the Medal and even some of those who managed to drag themselves out of bed only managed 9 holes. |
