Ladies Surrey Foursomes
Congratulations to Gerry Edwards and Debbie Rose who won their Surrey Foursomes Semi Final match this week. They played a pair from Walton Heath at Roehampton.
It was a bit touch and go as they were 4 down with 8 holes to play, but somehow pulled it together and managed to win on the 17th!
They don't know who their opponents in the Final will be yet, or which course we will be playing, but we wish them all the best for the Final!
Who will win The 2014 Ryder Cup? Sporting celebs have their say...
Europe or America... who will come out on top to win the 40th Ryder Cup matches? Let's find out some opinions...
Bernard Gallacher, three-time European Ryder Cup captain
"The Ryder Cup is about the closeness of the competition, and I just hope in 2014 that we manage to nick it."
Kenny Dalglish, former Liverpool & Scotland football star
"The Ryder Cup is a fantastic event. You can't help but get involved in it and be supportive of it. I'm looking forward to it. The Ryder Cup is brilliant, it really binds the continent of Europe together, really binds us all together. It's well within Gleneagles' capabilities to carry off a brilliant Ryder Cup. I don't think there will be any shadow of a doubt."
Peter Alliss, renowned BBC commentator and ex-Ryder Cup player
"I think Gleneagles will host a terrific Ryder Cup, the crowds will come and let's hope Europe can win."
Jamie Murray, Grand Slam tennis mixed doubles winner
"It's funny to think The Ryder Cup is such a huge event and it's going on just 15 minutes from your house (after growing up in Dunblane). It's strange in a way. When it was first announced it was going to be at Gleneagles, in 2001, I remember at the time thinking I'm going to be 28 when that comes around! Now it's almost here. I always want Europe to win."
Lee Trevino, six-time Major champion & six-time US Ryder Cup player
"I always like the home team on home soil (to win). I'll pull for the Americans naturally but home soil is very important. On home soil, you have the advantage of setting up the course the way you want to, you generally do it for the strengths and weaknesses of your team. I think it'll be a difficult test for the Americans. Also, being at Gleneagles, I'm sure some of the European team will have played the course many times. Having staged a European Tour event there every year will help the Europeans too. It will be difficult, but naturally I'll be rooting for the Americans. We'll see."
Jim Watt, Scotland's former boxing world champion
"Over the years The Ryder Cup has become bigger and bigger, the fact Gleneagles is now hosting it is fantastic. You think back to the drama down the years and now we could have more in Scotland. The standard of golf has been amazing in recent years, especially from a European point of view, so hopefully they can defend it at Gleneagles. You think of all the major championships in golf but I don't think any of them carry the drama of the Ryder Cup, the matchplay, man against man. I hope Gleneagles proves an advantage to the Europeans."
Gary Player nine-time Major champion
"It is tough to say. When you gather the best players in the world together for a team competition it is difficult to say who will have the edge. Anything can happen."
Kenny Logan, former Scotland rugby international
"From a rugby point of view, The Ryder Cup is a bit like the British Lions. It comes around two years, the Lions ever four years. It grips the golfing nations, grips Europe, grips the US. It's just great to see golf with the camaraderie coming out, I love that in sport. There is no better place for it. The Welsh did a great job at Celtic Manor (in 2010) and I think we can match them or do even better. I think the whole of Gleneagles, Central Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow will be buzzing. The country will get into a real grip of it."
Andy Murray, two-time Grand Slam tennis champion
Who do you think will win in 2014..? "Europe. For sure!"
