Andy Kirby Cup

Congratulations to the Men’s section on beating the Senior Section 5-1, to win this year’s Andy Kirby Cup.

2019 Men’s Eclectic

Fellow Bletchingley Golfers,

It is not long now before we start to play competitions off the white tees. So as past entrants of the white tee eclectic and/or staunch supporters of our competitions, we are hoping that few of you (well a lot of you to be honest) might still support this year’s competition in 2019/20.

Here are just some of the reasons to enter:

Nett and Gross prizes so give all playing abilities a take a share of the prize fund.
100% of the entry fees go to the prize fund.

Having a disastrous day on the course, the Eclectic still gives you something to play for and retains your interest throughout the round.

Makes the competition more competitive and fun for all involved.

Makes me do more sums.

You can pay your £5 entry fee in the pro shop before the 2019 Spring Meeting, so that should give you a couple of weeks to think about it. Last date for entering this competition will be the May Medal.

Summer Knockout Entry Sheets

The Summer Knockout entry sheets are now up on the main noticeboard. Please note all entry fees will be deducted from your members card after the closing date.

Marshalls required for The U.S. Open Qualifier at Walton Heath

Alistair Sinclair, Chief Marshal U.S. Open Qualifier, has contacted me to enquire if there are any Bletchingley members who would like to marshal at The U.S. Open Qualifier to be held at Walton Heath on Monday 3rd June.

You will need to be available for either a morning, afternoon or both. You will be given a food voucher for the half day or two vouchers for the whole day plus either one or two vouchers for a complementary round of golf at Walton Heath.

Name
Mobile number for an emergency contact on the course
Preference for marshalling duty: Marshalling matches, leader board, walking scorer

Master Evening Social - Saturday 13th April

Come and join us at the club to watch The Masters played at Augusta National. We will be offering a drink from the bar on arrival followed by a self-service chilli con-carne and garlic bread. If you would like to book your place; please put your name on the list which can be found on the noticeboard in the main corridor.

The cost will be £15.00 per head and we would require payment prior to the event. Payment can be made in the pro shop.

Music Night - Saturday 27th April (7.30pm- 10.30pm)

Join us for a 2-course Italian Buffet followed by a relaxed evening of music and dancing. The Italian buffet will be served between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, this will be followed by a fabulous set played by Kit Packham from 8.30pm – 10.30pm.

Kit’s repertoire covers a number of styles and genres but is almost exclusively “oldies” of one kind or another- Rat Pack, Great American songbook, classic pop/ rock hits from the 50’s, 70’s but mainly 60’s. Along with some pub style sing along favourites.

Cost per person: £18.50 and membership discount is available.

If you would like to purchase a ticket, please enter your name on the list in the main corridor and pay over the bar in advance!

Course news

Course Maintenance Evenings 2019

This spring/summer we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to devote some of their spare time by attending our course maintenance evenings. This is an opportunity to help with menial tasks such as divoting fairways/tee boxes, pruning and perhaps helping with the little tasks that will enhance the course further.

If you would like to participate, please enter your name onto the list which can be found in the main corridor of the clubhouse.

A much-needed complimentary drink will be available from the bar after! Dates to be confirmed.

Captain's news

Captain’s Away Day - Cowdray Park - Friday 12th July

The signup sheet is now on the main noticeboard for Captain’s Away Day. Please show your support for Adrian and note this event on your calendar. Great golf course and I’m sure it will be a fantastic day out!

11am - Coffee and bacon rolls on arrival
12 noon - 1st tee in groups of 4
5.00pm - Drinks on the terrace
5.30pm - Dinner and prizegiving

Buggies will be available and are bookable through the Cowdray Park pro shop.

Cost: £60.00 per person.

Mixed Match Sign Up Sheet

The signup sheet for the 2019 Mixed matches is now on the main noticeboard. Please note you must have an active handicap in order to enter these matches and all handicap levels are able to participate.

New Mixed Competition 2019

This year we are trialling a new Mixed Competition

Look out for the Signup Sheet which will be on the Main Noticeboard in March

Together with this you will find full details of the event, but in brief:

Open to All Membership Categories
No Handicap Restrictions (although you must have an active handicap)
Small entry fee – 50% donated to the Men’s and Ladies Captains charities
Format 9-hole Greensomes Matchplay
First stage played in Groups (number of teams in a group depends on the number of entrants
Groups stage played during May to August
Group winners progress to a Finals Day in September
Trophy for Winning Pair
Matchmaking Service available for those looking for a golf partner!

CSI Hub Privacy Settings

Can I urge all members who still haven’t adjusted their privacy settings to please do so ASAP. It has become quite a frustrating issue for all concerned that members contact details are not visible especially if you have entered knockout competitions. If you have any questions with regards to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.
