Congratulations to David Hannah who won the Summer Singles Knockout Competition this year beating Matt Charman in the final. This caps off a great summer for David who won the Club Championship as well this year.

Founder Captains Prize

Congratulations to Len Kirton who beat Roger Borer in the final of the Founder Captains Prize. It was a close match with it being decided on the 19th hole. The round also included a halved hole on the 11th with both players carding an 8. However, in the end Len held his nerve to emerge victorious.

New Titleist 915 Range Coming Soon

Set to launch in November is Titleist's new range of woods. It may have been two years since Titleist last launched a group of metals, but these clubs have been in production for a lot longer, and it shows. The main difference to this family, which you will notice straight away, is the patented Active Recoil Channel. The ARC, as it's known, is a long, wide and deep sole channel that actively flexes at impact and recoils to launch the ball off the face with higher speed and lower spin.

The big selling point for the 915 family is the improved ball speed created for shots which don't quite find the middle of the club. It's no secret that golfers of all abilities don't find the middle of the club every time and Titleist have added a Radial Speed Face, which is a high-speed forged face insert which works with the ARC to increase ball speed on these off-centre hits. The 915's also have a precise high-MOI design with a low and deep centre of gravity location; this delivers stability and forgiveness that preserves the ball speed for more distance, more often.

Range Balls

We are currently running low on balls for the range and it would be much appreciated if anyone who has spare or old golf balls they no longer want were donated to us for use on the range.

Increase Distance off the Tee

In order to maximise distance with a driver, you need to make sure you are hitting the ball as the club is starting the upswing, as this will produce a high launching shot which will carry a long way and roll out when it hits the ground. To help promote this, here are three simple tips:

1. Tee the ball slightly higher
2. Move your ball position slightly further forward in your stance (towards your left foot)
3. Take a slightly wider stance, so your feet are just wider than shoulder width apart

All these tips should help you to hit the ball more on the upswing and maximise your distance off the tee!
