Welcome to this week's newsletter, bringing you all the latest news and events from Bletchingley Golf Club. We hope you're having a great week on and off the golf course. Enjoy the read! |
Kitchen refurbishment
Through January we will be making some slight alterations to the kitchen. These changes will enhance the working area for Kevin and his staff as the current layout cannot cope with the current volume of business we are attracting. These changes will allow us to offer a more efficient service to both member and visitor when visiting the club. We are planning to close the kitchen for a couple of days whilst this work is being carried out and will keep the membership informed of the dates as and when. |
Course update
Paul and his team have now cut back all the long rough and are also carrying out the annual winter tree work. The irrigation has been installed to the ladies 11th Tee with the electrics to be completed prior to the Christmas break. The turf will be laid in early January ready for the 2020 golfing season. Our greenstaff have a number of other little projects to carry out in the coming weeks that will help enhance the course which includes new tee blocks and repainting the bells out on the course.

Staff Christmas fund Can I please remind any member who wishes to donate to the Staff Christmas fund who haven’t already contributed, could they please make payment by Wednesday, 18 December. Kind Regards Myles Carroll, Sarah Hussey and John Blackley |
BOFS Christmas Competition Wednesday, 4 December
A great turnout of 32 players took part in the annual BOFS Xmas event. Organised by Andrew Rumble & Bob McDonnell, the format was played off the red tees, with two to score on the first six holes, three to score on the next six, and all four scores on the last six. Whilst there was a bottle of something for everyone, to get into the frame you needed to be in the 120s.

The usual fantastic array of festive jumpers was on display, with Mark Fuller appearing on the shoulders of one of the seven dwarfs/
The winning team, with a score of 126 points was Alan Cottle, Doug Patterson, Neil Tunbridge and Myles Carroll who duly received the magnificent “Red Ball” trophies.

Turkey & Ham Competition Sunday, 8 December
A fantastic turnout of 67 competitors (17 teams) battled it out in Sunday’s annual Christmas Scramble, the Turkey & Ham Trot.
The weather was very kind to us for a change and it brought out the best in festive jumpers, Christmas tree hats and the odd elf! (No names, you know who you are SM)
Sarah did a superb job in organising prizes for all the teams, with the customary stuffing and sprouts for the tail-enders.
|
| Ron Smith, John Godfrey, Paul Stephens and Nick Mabbutt well and truly stuffed
"Nett 68? what a bunch of turkeys” said Ernie Els afterwards. |
| The Winning Team – Steph Butcher, Dave Allard, Neil Tunbridge & Barry French - nett 59 |

Sarah made up a festive hamper which was raffled to raise money for the Captains’ Charities. The lucky ticket belonged to Rob Perry and thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised a fabulous £500.
Massive thanks to everyone for supporting the day.
We also had the opportunity to present the Carr Coffee Pot to the very worthy winners for 2019, Phil and El Rhodes. |
|
Finally, as we near the end of 2019 both Sarah and Myles should like to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
