Bar & Catering from Saturday, 1 August Wiseville will be opening the Main bar throughout the week from Saturday, 1 August. Access will be available through the clubhouse and we would ask everybody who enters the bar to sign the diary which will be placed by the bar entrance. Any golfer leaving the bar will be asked to exit from the conservatory doors. Safety screens will be placed on the Main bar and drinks will then be left at the end of the bar for the customer to collect. Seating will also be available in the Main bar along with the seating already set in the function room. The same rules will apply in the Main bar with regards to the room set up as no chairs or tables can be moved from their original position. Catering will be available from 9:00am - 4:00pm each day.
We will continue with the fish and chip friday but if there are any evening events the membership would like to run and require food, could they please speak to myself, Kevin or Tracy and we will do our best to accommodate. The bar will open from 12.30pm - 7.30pm and the clubhouse will close shortly after. The Halfway Hut will be delivered to the club at the end of July and I will let the membership know the opening date in due course. A till system and credit card machine will be installed that will allow members to use their bar cards and credit cards when purchasing from the hut. |
"The Longest Day" Golf Challenge
Macmillan Cancer Support Coronavirus Emergency Appeal "Dear Friends, Family & Fellow Golfers Macmillan hold ”The Longest Day” Challenge every year to raise vital funds for the wonderful work they do for Cancer Patients and their Families. The Competition format is a team of four playing four rounds of golf in one day, submitting the two best scores per hole in a National Competition. Turning 60 this year I wanted to plan and participate in a few different activities and challenges, this being one of them. Well, clearly all plans flew out of the window in March and so far I’ve mostly marked my 60th with extensive gardening and DIY.
All Charities have suffered over the last few months and are likely to do so for some considerable time, but I’m pleased to say that Macmillan have launched their Coronavirus Emergency Appeal, and have opened up the rules of the competition, actively encouraging people to enter, play and fundraise.

The format will be slightly different. I was really looking forward to completing 72 holes in one day, but daylight will now not allow. We need time to promote and fundraise, so have delayed our 72 holes and will play on 22nd and 23rd September.
My wonderful team: Debbie Rose, Gerry Edwards, El Rhodes and I will play 36 holes at Gatton Manor on 22nd September, followed by 36 holes at Bletchingley on 23rd. Not quite the challenge we had planned, but I am sure you will appreciate the extraordinary circumstances we all find ourselves in this year. And STOP PRESS! Our Lady Captain and Vice Captain have assembled another team, so Sarah Hussey, Ros Tunbridge, Jenny Manser and Sue Rumble will also be taking on the challenge. Our fundraising will be joint. Covid-19 has had a huge impact on people living with Cancer, their families and carers, and the loneliness & uncertainty has meant that more than ever, Macmillan are in high demand. Their support has never mattered more. Support has been extended to online centres, support for those and their carers who are shielding or self-isolating, funeral advice and more. We are delighted that we are fortunate enough to be out on the golf course for 18 hours, raising money with every shot we play, for such a vital cause. We hope, at the same time, to support our Club Captains’ Charities by running a “guess the number of putts” competition – Debbie will provide details in due course. Please support Macmillan by supporting us! |
