Division 1 of the '3 Club and a Putter' Competition last weekend was won by Simon Glastonbury who demonstrated he no longer needs 14 clubs to play good golf as he scored 38 points with just 4! Myles Carroll was equally impressive also scoring 38 points however he was beaten on count back meaning he had to settle for second. Competition for 3rd place was fierce as three players finished on the same score of 36 points, however it was Matt Charman who won on count back and received 3rd place. Division 2's winner was Cris Mummery who has shown impressive form lately winning the February Stableford and now this with a great score of 39 points. There were then three players who scored 33 points, meaning count back would decide who finished 2nd and 3rd. John Balckley won this count back battle and finished 2nd with Andy McGillivray taking 3rd, unfortunately for Alan Hill he would lose on countback and finish 4th.
Captains Charity Day
Every year, Bletchingley GC's Annual Captain's will host a Charity Day in order to raise money for their selected charities. It is one of the biggest days of the year for the golf club, and has previously been well supported by both members and non-members. The golf consists of an 18 Hole Team Stableford Competition as well as various nearest the pin competitions, and this year there will even be the chance to win a car! Following the golf there will be a charity auction in which there will be some great items for sale. The day itself is always a huge success and it would be great to see lots of members and non members entering. PING Tour Gorge Wedges
PING's Gorge Groove Technology starts with arguably the most precise milling process in the industry. They mill the Gorge groove at PING so they can hold very tight tolerances to ensure maximum spin.
By managing the process, they can achieve the optimal size and shape of grooves for generating consistent, reliable spin and trajectories for confident shot making. The 17-4 stainless steel head has a traditional shape and features a custom tuning port in the back cavity that expands the perimeter weighting, creating a high MOI and a very solid feel across the face.
The Tour wedge is available in three sole widths: TS (Thin Sole) has the least bounce and is best for shallow swings and firm sand or turf conditions. SS (Standard Sole) offers medium bounce and performs great from most turf conditions and for most swing styles. WS (Wide Sole) has the most bounce and is exceptional in softer sand and turf conditions, or if you have a steep angle of attack.
To determine the best wedge for you, consider your divot pattern. If you take deep divots, the WS will prevent excessive digging. If your divots are shallower, the TS will help you get the lead edge under the ball more easily and impart spin.
So if you want to improve your control around the greens, buy a set of PING Tour Wedges now and receive 15% OFF!
