Congratulations to Colin Crick who won Division 1 of the May Stableford last weekend with a valuable 34 points. Second place went to El Rhodes with 33 points.
Congratulations also goes to Trevor Sullivan who was the winner of Division 2. Trevor scored a very good 35 points which was just enough to beat Lesley Crick who scored 34 points.
Michael: Tournament Update
On Tuesday I played in the PGA Surrey Masters at Farleigh Court Golf Club. There were 50 entrants with prize money going to the top 12. After my recent success I was feeling fairly confident and I knew if I could get the putter going I could shoot a good score.
I started well with an easy par at the first, however a 3 putt bogey from 6 foot on the second put me over par early on. I put this behind me though and made a great birdie on the 4th to get back to level. But a bad tee shot on 5 and 3 putts on both 6 and 7 from no more than 8 feet put me +3 and I now had a lot of work to do. Luckily I was able to hit two great shots on the par 5 9th which set up a tap in eagle and I turned at +1. The eagle on 9 gave me a boost going into the back 9 as I played probably my best golf of the day setting up really good birdie chances on 10,11,12,13,14 and 15 however I was only able to convert one of them. My tee shot on the par 3 16th landed on the front of the green but spun off down the hill and left me with a really tricky 30 yard pitch shot. I managed to make a great up and down and keep my card going, but I knew I would need a couple birdies on 17 and 18 as my playing partners; Andrew Raitt and Paul Schunter were both under par. Despite playing both 17 and 18 really well I was unable to make a birdie and I finished the round on level par.
The competition was to be played over 36 holes and after the first round I was in t10 position, 5 behind the leader David Callaway who shot a really impressive 5 under. There was also a prize for the leading assistant for which I was in second place and only 1 behind the leader, I was therefore aiming to shoot a good second round and win the leading assistants prize.
There was a delayed start to second round as thunder and lightning suspended play. Unfortunately this was to be the theme for the afternoon and after getting drenched for 13 holes there was more thunder and lightning and the second round was cancelled. Meaning I finished in t10 position. Overall this was a good result as the field included some very good and experienced players. I was again happy with how I played even though I left shots out there with my putting.

Wells Fargo Championship
Rory McIlroy won the Wells Fargo Championship by seven strokes, setting a new tournament record score of 267.
The Northern Irish world number one, 26, finished on 21 under par with a final round 69 in North Carolina to earn his second win at Quail Hollow.
America's Patrick Rodgers and Webb Simpson tied for second on 14 under.
"Everything is firing on all cylinders for me," said McIlroy. "I'm a more controlled player these days. I've learned how to finish things off."
He added: "I felt if I made six birdies there was no chance of anybody catching me.
"I did what I wanted the last few weeks, got a couple of wins, got myself up the Fedex Cup standings and solidified my positions in the rankings."
It was an 11th PGA Tour victory for McIlroy, who shot his lowest career round of 61 on Saturday to lead by four strokes going into the final day and break his own Quail Hollow course record, set in 2010.
A bogey at the par-three second, where he three-putted, was his first blemish since the first round but he made the turn at 19 under.
He held form to ease past the previous tournament record of 16 under set by Anthony Kim in 2008.
McIlroy, who won the WGC Match Play title two weeks ago, now has six top-10 finishes in his last eight PGA Tour starts.
