We are all looking forward to the start of a new golf season, but the one downside to the return of the sun is the dastardly sight of thickening rough.
But it's here that the hybrid or utility club really earns its corn. Even the tangliest grass struggles to grab its sleek, rounded head, while its low-profile shape and weight distribution promote easy launch. From distance, the club can force the ball closer to the green than the short-iron alternative.
This is why we believe now is the ideal time to talk to us about the hybrids that should be in your bag - or even the ones that already are. Not only do we have some great options for you, all of which we personally endorse; we can also advise on aspects like lofts, custom-fit and how to blend hybrids with your existing irons.
Used properly, the hybrid can save you shots all summer. Get yours sorted now… and hit the ground running in 2014. Click here to visit my website and see some of the hybrids I have in my shop catalogue.
Steve's Back
Just to let everyone know, I will be back at the Golf Club from Wednesday 26th March, but in the mean time, the rest of the Pro Shop Team will be more than capable to deal with any questions in my absence.
Andy Kirby Cup
Last Weekend was host to the Andy Kirby Cup, a competition where the Senior's section play against the Men's Section in fourball better ball match play. Historically this competition has been fairly one sided, with the Seniors only winning the competition twice in its history, but the seniors side were not phased by this. However the Men's team proved to be to strong for the Seniors once again, as they won the Match 4½ - 1½.
Snowdrop Walk
Jenny, El and Rosemary have been demonstrating their gardening skills this week as they kindly spent some time planting snowdrops along the path that runs from the 12th green to the 13th tee. The hope being that next spring when they blossom it will create a beautiful walkway which will be known as 'Snowdrop Walk'.

TaylorMade Project 'a' Golf Ball
The only piece of equipment a golfer needs for every shot is their golf ball, that's why it's vital to make sure you're playing the right ball. TaylorMade engineers have designed a radically new ball for competitive mid-handicappers who need more approach-shot spin.
Project (a) is long off every club and feels great. Best, it helps you generate the extra spin you need to stop the ball closer to the hole, leaving you shorter putts to promote lower scores. It's already proven to be popular as at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, more amateurs put their trust in the performance of Project (a) than any other ball. The most discerning amateur golfers in the world saw incredible distance off the tee, and increased spin around the greens where amateur golfers need it the most.
These outstanding balls offer the performance of a tour ball but at a much lower price. NOW IN STOCK for just £32 a dozen.
The Masters Sweepstake
The Masters is one of the most prestigious tournaments held during the course of year and to celebrate it we are running a Masters sweepstake. The way the sweepstake will work is:
You purchase a square numbered 1-100, for JUST £2
The tee pairings are then released on April the 8th
The players are then numbered according to the order they tee off in
The player that matches the number you chose is then your player for the tournament
The people with the players placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd will then win money to go on their Pro Shop Account.
Example: You buy the square numbered 29. The 29th player to tee off is then your player for the tournament.
Note: Any players leftover after the pairings have been released will then be available for purchase; however they will cost £4
To Sign up, please go to the Pro Shop Good Luck!
