Congratulations to Matt Charman and Howard Samples on winning the Jubilee Pairs with a magnificent 44 points. 

Adam Peck and Luke White were 2nd on count back with very impressive 42, and 3rd pipped again Debbie Rose and Viv Harrison.

Rosemary Miller won the June Medal with a wonderful 66 - and another reduction to her handicap having only just gone into the 2nd Division. Jenny Manser won the 1st Division with 68 and Mary Watford the 3rd Division with 70. 

Handicap reductions for Rosemary, Jenny, Mary and Sue Munday = a good day for the ladies. 

Ladies Open 

Congratulations to Crowborough Beacon on winning our 1st Ladies Open which was held last Friday. The format for the day was best 2 scores from 4 and their team came in with a very impressive 87 points pipping White Lodge on 85 points. 

Our thanks go to all our ladies who turned out to help make the day a success with ball spotting and manning the refreshment station halfway round. 

The feedback from all the visiting ladies was a good one and they also really enjoy the cold meat buffet as well, so hopefully next year word will spread and we will see double the amount of teams.



Following our recent agronomist report, a suggestion was made that we should consider letting certain tee banks grow to help enhance the tee boxes and to add further definition to the course. Many of you may have noticed that we trialed this suggestion on 3 tee boxes, the 9th, 10th and ladies 11th tee. We are now set to increase the number of tee boxes as I think it brings a slightly more aesthetic look to the course. I am sure you all have your opinions on this, but please give it time and then make a judgement when all the tees that we are able to let grow are complete. 

Due to the dry weather conditions, the maintenance of the greens remains our priority and I know that Paul and his staff are hand watering the greens daily to maintain a decent standard of putting surface. Paul has had to take preventative measures in the last few weeks by not cutting the greens for a couple of days and just trying to apply as much water as he could. The greens were then verticut which is a light scarification which removes all the unwanted grass. This will help increase the speed and help improve the roll.

The addition of more sand will be applied to the greenside bunkers in the next week and we also now have some material to top the paths up. We apologise for the delay with both of these, but now the grass growth has slowed due to the warm weather the green keepers will have more time to complete these tasks. 



Ben had a lesson with David Baboulene this week who is fairly new to golf, and sent some fantastic feedback in afterwards;

Just to let you know, I played my best round of golf EVER after our lesson. I didn't slice a single shot and hit a few beauties!

My previous best round was about 150 (including cheating...) and today I went round in 122! I got 2 pars!!!
