A Message from Ben Daniels
Hi Readers,
I hope everyone is as excited for the 2015 Open as I am! If I'm not coaching or playing myself, you'll probably find me glued to the television trying to catch every hole. In golf you're constantly learning, so why not learn from the best? I like to take advantage of tournaments, like the Open and study the players and their game.
Here are a couple of quick tips from me on what to look out for from the players, which could improve your game:
Firstly, pay close attention to the many variations of shots the players will use, especially when the breeze gets up. This is where experience and skill comes into play. They're not shy and will use all the tools in their toolbox to adapt.
Secondly look out for the seriously good punch shots from players - The key to this shot is keeping the ball under the wind and swinging it smooth. Give yourself an extra club, place the ball closer to the back foot (just off centre) and ensure you keep your hands forward upon impact. Considering how firm the course is playing at the moment, if you can master this shot you'll see the benefits yourself.
If you get inspired by the Open and fancy taking your game up a level, you know where I am!
