Look Out, Captains Charity Fines now being implemented
An issue which was raised at the Members Committee last Tuesday was that golfers continue to take their trollies between the green and the greenside bunkers, completely ignoring the ropes that are put there for a reason.
The committee have now decided that a fine of £1.00 will be imposed on any individual caught infringing on this rule.
All fines will go towards the Captains Charity fund.

Indoor Winter Coaching Evenings
I'm excited to announce some dates over the winter when I'll be taking over the new 'Let's Golf' Facility - one of the top simulation destination venues in the UK! Expect a new experience in golf, some evening fun and visible improvements in your swing!
Using my guidance, along with the latest indoor HD simulators, video analysis and pressure plate technology that the facility has to offer, we'll look at enhancing your technique. You'll forget about the cold winter weather that could be hindering your practice, when we play virtually on some of the best courses in the world from St Andrews to the PGA National.
I'm only extending this offer to eight members or friends per class, so please book your slot quickly to avoid disappointment.
As always, you can email or call me with any questions you have, or click here to get in touch.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Ben

Clubhouse and Course Update
The Clubhouse renovations that were announced at the AGM are in full swing and we are expecting that the toilets in the main foyer will be back in use by the end of this week. The brick wall outside the pro shop has also been completed.
The greenkeepers are now finding that the amount of time spent cutting has reduced considerably over the last week due to the drop in temperature which has allowed them to carry out the following tasks since the last meeting:
The annual application of worm irritant has been sprayed over the course to help reduce the amount of worm casts
A substantial amount of tree work has been carried out including the 11th and 16th which should help improve visibility from both tees
The hedge to the right of the 5th hole has also been cut back and tidied up
The greens were vertidrained in November but this maintenance will be repeated on the 8th December and this time will include the tee boxes. This work helps to improve aeriation and reduce thatch build up. The fairways will also be vertidrained and this will commence on Monday.
The winter course projects are expected to start very soon but have been delayed due to the very wet conditions and we are reluctant to drive heavy machinery onto the golf course that will create unwanted mess. We are hoping the intended projects will commence in the next week or 2 when the course has dried out slightly.
The ladies 5th tee will be the 1st project and the soil from the old ladies tee on the 3rd will contribute to the construction of this new tee. This is when the irrigation on the old tee will be capped. A temporary mat will be placed adjacent to the 5th tee as agreed with the ladies section. |
Glove warning According to FootJoy, a worrying 50% of you are playing golf in a glove that’s too big for you – which will present grip issues. You might be fine, but ask us the question next time you’re about to head out for a round. Can’t do any harm, can it? | learn more |
